In addition to working on our own projects, 4NRg is pleased to offer bespoke consultancy to new innovative concepts formulated by third party clients.
Our comprehensive confidentiality policy enables us to work closely with other companies and individuals who will benefit from our experience and knowledge.
We specialise in engineering and environmental issues, particularly those with an offshore and coastal focus. We value on interdiscipliarity and have in-house expertise in electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, material and fibre optics engineering, environmental sciences and CAD facilities.
Services available include, but are not limited to:
• Overview Concept Consultancy: working up an idea to fill a need or to solve a specific problem.
• Design practicality evaluation: investigating a product's feasibility, and performing initial commercial viability assessments.
• Concept improvement: in terms of functionality, aesthetics, design and engineering.
• Desktop prototype design and physical modelling.
• Novelty/Needs Research: checking against prior art, existing patents, existing solutions and competitor analysis.
• Advice on the patenting process and preparing draft applications (we can recommend the use of a patent attorney at this stage).
• Suggestions for the next steps e.g. finding suitable manufacturers, funding and investment.
• Business modelling and planning for new ideas.
We plan to have two wave and flow tanks installed for small scale prototype testing within the next 12 months; a 1 x 9m wave and current flume for device testing and a 5 x 9m wave and flow tank for moveable-bed sediment modeling and larger scale experiments. Tank testing is a vital intermediary step between conceptual development of a product and real world testing. The tanks will be integral for in-house project development, as well as being available to external clients for consultancy work.
